Multiplication
Its important to learn multiplication. Its a faster way to add up more than of the same number/ price. NO one wants to be sitting there in a store adding up 12 6 times when they could do 12 x 6.
multiplication- An operation where a number is added a certain number of times to its self.
example- 5 x 6 =30 (5+ 5+ 5+ 5+5 + 5= 30) (x is the multiplication symbol)
factor-a number that goes into a different number
example- 6 is a factor of 12 (6+6=12)
multiple- A number that you will hear when counting by another number
example- 12 is a multiple of 6 because you will hear it when you count by 6's (6,12, 18...)
product-an answer to a multiplication problem
example- 5x6=30 (30 = product)

MULTIPLICATION WORD PROBLEMS
1.) Bob had 6 apples. He went to the store and got 6 bundles of 7 apples. He then ate 12 apples. How many did he have left?
2.)Lily had 12 pencils she got 12 x her original amount added on. How much does she have now?
3.)Gary had 3 pieces of candy. He gave away 2 but then he got 11 x his original amount. How many did he have?
4.)Katie had 9 pieces of pie. She got 4 x the amount she had added on. How much did she have?
5.)Joe had $7. He spent 5 dollars on comics. He then earned twice as much as he had left. How much money does he have now?
